The core of timing chain maintenance lies in regularly changing the engine oil, checking the chain condition, and promptly replacing the entire assembly, rather than waiting for a malfunction to occur. Scientific maintenance can effectively prevent serious engine damage and extend the vehicle's lifespan.

Engine Oil is the "Lifeline" of the Timing Chain
The timing chain operates in high-temperature, high-speed environments, relying entirely on engine oil for lubrication and cooling. Using substandard or inferior engine oil will significantly accelerate chain wear.

It is recommended to change the engine oil every 5,000 to 10,000 kilometers, prioritizing fully synthetic oil to ensure stable lubrication performance.

At the same time, the oil filter must be replaced to prevent impurities from entering the lubrication system and damaging the chain and tensioner.

Special Reminder: Even if the vehicle's mileage is low, the engine oil should be changed according to the recommended time interval (e.g., every 6 months to 1 year) to prevent oil oxidation and deterioration.

Regularly Check Chain Condition to Prevent Problems

Although timing chains are touted as "maintenance-free for life," their health still needs to be actively monitored during actual use.

It is recommended to check the chain tension and wear every 20,000 kilometers, starting from 150,000 kilometers.

Use a special tool to measure the chain elongation. If it exceeds 0.3mm or 2.5%, there is a risk of skipped teeth, and the chain should be replaced immediately.
